A self-produced artist, her songs have a sculptural quality to them, intricately blending textures of cello, synths and whispery vocals inspired by her classical background and introverted tendencies.With a name taken from an ancient italic ritual of the ‘sacred spring’, VERA SACRA’s obsession with the cultish and macabre finds its way into the gothic futurism of the Sheffield-based producer whose lyrics often write about fate, devotion and obsession in a digitised world that can feel increasingly lonelyHer first two singles ‘what i want’ and 'kiss me again' achieved support from BBC Introducing in Sheffield & Leeds and was featured on Radio 1 DJ Sian Eleri’s Selector Radio show. ‘Kiss me again’ is VERA SACRA’s second single - a dark, hypnotic track reminiscent of early 2000s electronica and gothic pop. Written and recorded between London and Sheffield, the track blends whispery, chant-like vocals with bass-heavy production, airy strings and guitar. The song is about being loved versus being used, and the fleeting experience of intimacy in big cities.This single departs from the melodic breakbeat style of her first single, revealing a darker, more percussive edge to her music, yet still embellished by cello.The track is accompanied by film photography from London-based Celia Croft shot at blue hour in a field north of London. There is also a lyric video with VHS footage from her July '24 gig at The George Tavern filmed by Seamus Heath with hand-drawn text animations from the musician herself. The music video filmed by Madeleine Cooke will be out shortly after the single.
